The Serb member of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, said in Ora\u0161ac that the Statehood Day of Serbia was perceived in the Republic of Srpska as a joint holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- We celebrate this day as our own in the Republic of Srpska. We look to Serbia as a motherland. Serbia gives us guarantees and refuge, helps and encourages - said Dodik at the central event marking the Statehood Day of Serbia, congratulating the citizens and the leadership of Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dodik pointed out that Serbs had always brought freedom to other nations, and that \u201cour ancestors laid the foundations of what is today a modern civilization\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- We meet here and mark our joint holiday, a holiday dedicated to the First Serbian Uprising, the day when Serbs in the committed fight for freedom started an uprising and started building Serb statehood and freedom for all who live here - he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that \u201conly the ignorant of history\u201d were wondering why today was a holiday for every Serb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- The historical event that happened when Kara\u0111or\u0111e set out to liberate our people is important. This is the Day of the First Serbian Uprising, but also of the adoption of the Sretenje Constitution. This is the beginning of building a modern state. That constitution was withdrawn only a few weeks later because it was too liberal for those who lecture us today on freedom and human rights. Our ancestors laid the foundations of what modern liberal Europe was - said Dodik.\nHe emphasized that, when talking about the First Serbian Uprising, one ignores the fact that the people in the area of today\u2019s Republic of Srpska also began to fight for freedom against tyranny, at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dodik said that Serbs today had two states \u2013 the Republic of Srpska and Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Serbia which is the guarantor of peace and security, which we love and rejoice in all its progress, Serbia which is the guarantor of the survival of all Serbs. Serbs have learned that there is no freedom without the Serbian state. We had to fight for our Republic of Srpska. Serbia is a guarantor of peace, committed to itself and helping others - Dodik emphasized and thanked Serbia for helping and understanding Srpska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He pointed out that Serbia was the guarantor of peace, a state that was being built and moved forward under the leadership of the President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Serbia is on the right path, Serbia guarantees the survival of the Serb people. Serbia must understand the suffering, expectations and dreams of us outside of Serbia. Serbia that reacts and that does not give up. Serbia that offers freedom and refuge to everyone, regardless of which nation it was - said Dodik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He accentuated that even today \u201cmany come from the sidelines and teach us lessons on how we should behave\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- I recently talked to a man who was acquainted with preparations of ambassadors coming to this area. He is British. He told me that 95% of the instructions that their diplomats had received earlier when they came to the Balkans, were still received today. This means that their policy has not changed. They do not want to hear arguments from our side. Serbs are not a people bought by donations from Brussels. Serbs are a people who have red lines of their national freedom. Long live Serbia, long live Serbs wherever they are - said Dodik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The central ceremony marking the Statehood Day of Serbia - Sretenje began in Ora\u0161ac in the presence of the highest officials of Serbia and Srpska. Before the beginning of the official ceremony, the Bishop Jovan of \u0160umadija served the liturgy in the Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Ora\u0161ac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabi\u0107 and Dodik, laid wreaths at the monument to Kara\u0111or\u0111e, and the orchestra of the Serbian Army Guard performed the anthem \u201cGod of Justice\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Even today, historical figures invite us to follow their path - the path of statehood and progress, offering a share in their glory and bright examples of how to overcome the obstacles facing Serbia honorably and with dignity - said the Prime Minister Brnabi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that the goal this time has remained the same - Serbia is sovereign and independent, European and modern, constitutional and democratic, prosperous and respected around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The marking of the Statehood Day was also attended by ministers in the Government of Serbia - Sini\u0161a Mali, Jadranka Joksimovi\u0107, Marija Obradovi\u0107, Nikola Selakovi\u0107, Branko Ru\u017ei\u0107, Zorana Mihajlovi\u0107, Darija Kisi\u0107 Tepav\u010devi\u0107, Gordana \u010comi\u0107, and Nenad Popovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Nedeljko \u010cubrilovi\u0107, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Vi\u0161kovi\u0107, the Minister of Labor, War Veterans and Disabled Persons\u2019 Protection of the Republic of Srpska, Du\u0161ko Milunovi\u0107, as well as ministers in the Government of Serbia were also present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
