The Republic of Srpska is energy independent thanks to its own capacities, and raising the level of energy sovereignty is one of the key goals and challenges of this and future governments in Srpska, said today the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Vi\u0161kovi\u0107, at the opening of the Energy Summit \u201cSet 2022\u201d in Trebinje. He said that the Government of the Republic of Srpska planned to increase energy sovereignty through the construction of new energy facilities from renewable energy sources, simultaneously with the modernization of existing thermal power plants. He pointed out that an investment cycle in the field of energy worth two billion KM had been launched, of which 1.6 billion KM was concentrated in Herzegovina. The Prime Minister Vi\u0161kovi\u0107 recalled that the construction of the hydropower plants \u201cBuk Bijela\u201d and \u201cBistrica\u201d had started last year, and that he expected the beginning of preparatory works on HPP \u201cDabar\u201d in about a month. He said that the projects of wind power plants \u201cHrgud\u201d and \u201cGrebak\u201d were being worked on, as well as the solar park \u201cTrebinje 1\u201d, with a capacity of 170 megawatts with a strategic partner from Hungary. The Prime Minister Vi\u0161kovi\u0107 stated that two solar power plants of about 60 megawatts in Bile\u0107a and Nevesinje were being worked on in parallel, adding that investors were interested in solar and wind energy and that the Government would strongly encourage it. \u201cThe Government of the Republic of Srpska will continue to support the growth and development of all our companies and to encourage the development of Srpska\u201d, the Prime Minister Vi\u0161kovi\u0107 emphasized. He noted that the Republic of Srpska was in a relatively favorable position with regards to energy, and that the global energy crisis had caused an enormous rise in energy prices, which should be a warning to build its own energy facilities, to use Srpska\u2019s own resources and strengthen energy independence. The Prime Minister Vi\u0161kovi\u0107 reiterated that today, despite the \u201crage\u201d of energy prices, the Republic of Srpska had the most favorable electricity prices in the region and that the strategic goal was for citizens and the economy to continue to have favorable energy prices, while encouraging energy exports.
