The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, has received today in an inaugural visit the Commander of the European Union Force (EUFOR) in BiH, the Major General Anton Wessely.

At the meeting in the Palace of the Republic, the interlocutors exchanged views on the current issues and the security situation in the Republic of Srpska and BiH.

The President Cvijanović informed the Commander Wessely that the Republic of Srpska was politically and security stable, and that its institutions were committed to peace, stability and the preservation of competencies and constitutional capacity of the Republic of Srpska.

Moreover, the President Cvijanović informed the newly appointed Commander of the EU Force that the increased presence of the uniformed EUFOR members in populated areas had caused anxiety and concern of citizens of the Republic of Srpska.  

On this occasion, the President of the Republic called for a balanced approach of EUFOR and other international organizations towards the two entities in BiH.

It was jointly stated that the security situation in the Republic of Srpska was stable, and the need for greater cooperation and exchange of information between institutions of the Republic of Srpska and the EUFOR Mission in BiH was pointed out.
