The members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina thanked for the financial, spiritual and political help and support that the Holy See had been providing to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina for thirty years, and for advocating interreligious dialogue, tolerance and equality of members of all denominations.

The Pope Francis shows great interest in the social and political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and strongly supports coexistence in BiH, emphasizing that diversity is wealth, said the Archbishop Gallagher.

The members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Archbishop Gallagher also discussed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, its EU path, for which there was a consensus, and about the demographic situation in the BiH society in general.

At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors stated that relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Vatican were extremely good and friendly, with space for additional strengthening and intensification.

The Archbishop Gallagher is on a four-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and will visit the three bishops’ seats in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar, where he will celebrate Mass in cathedrals with the intention of peace, justice, reconciliation and progress in every sense.
