The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović has met today in Banja Luka with the Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See’s Secretariat of State.

During the meeting, relations between the Republic of Srpska and the Holy See, the current political situation in BiH and the region were discussed. The President Cvijanović expressed full commitment of institutions of Srpska to preserving peace and stability, as well as strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation.

At the meeting with the Archbishop Gallagher, the President of Srpska pointed out that dialogue is the only effective way to resolve political issues in all democratic, multinational communities, and highlighted the need to respect the legitimate interests of all constituent peoples in BiH.

On this occasion, the President Cvijanović informed her interlocutor about the position and viewpoints of the Republic of Srpska regarding the current political situation in BiH, emphasizing that consistent respect of the international law, the Dayton Peace Agreement and the BiH Constitution were essential for BiH’s long-term stability and full functionality of joint institutions.
