The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, has met today in her office with the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Kairat Abdrakhmanov.

Current political and economic issues in the Republic of Srpska and BiH, the position of national minorities, the electoral reform process and other issues were discussed at the meeting.

The President Cvijanović informed her interlocutor that the Republic of Srpska had an adequate institutional framework and efficient mechanisms for the protection of minority rights, which were constantly being improved in cooperation with the Alliance and the Council of National Minorities of the Republic of Srpska.

In that context, the President Cvijanović pointed out that the Republic of Srpska was the first in BiH to adopt a document of strategic importance for the position of national minorities, which confirmed the commitment and respect of institutions towards national minorities in the Republic of Srpska.

When it comes to the electoral legislation, the President Cvijanović stated on this occasion that the viewpoints and position of the Republic of Srpska were known, and pointed out the principle of the constituency of peoples and the necessity of complying with the Dayton Agreement.
