The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Višković, has met today in Banja Luka with the IMF Mission Chief for BiH, Alina Ijancu, and the IMF Resident Representative in BiH, Andrew Juel. The current economic situation in the Republic of Srpska and BiH was discussed at the meeting, in the context of global economic and political developments, as well as the current and future cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Srpska and the International Monetary Fund. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Višković, informed the Chief of the International Monetary Fund Mission for BiH, Alina Ijancu, about the Government’s proposed measures in the field of indirect taxes aimed at mitigating the negative effects of inflation, which would be discussed at the Republic of Srpska National Assembly session. The Prime Minister Višković emphasized that, despite the disturbances on the world energy market, the Republic of Srpska had sufficient quantities and a stable electricity supply, and reiterated that there would be no increase in electricity prices for households and the economy. On this occasion, the Prime Minister Radovan Višković thanked for the financial assistance provided by the International Monetary Fund to the Republic of Srpska during the corona virus pandemic, aimed at supporting health and the real sector. Also, the commitment of the Government to support every project and activity that contributes to the improvement of the standards and life of the citizens of the Republic of Srpska was highlighted at the meeting.
