The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Višković, together with the Minister of Labor, War Veterans and Disabled Persons’ Protection, Duško Milunović, and the Director of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, Mladen Milić, has met with the President of the Association of Pensioners of the Republic of Srpska, Ratko Trifunović, in Banja Luka today. On the occasion of the upcoming harmonization of pensions, the Prime Minister informed the President of the Association of Pensioners that the Government of the Republic of Srpska would make a decision at the next session on regular and extraordinary adjustment of pensions, which would amount to four percent.
This is the largest single increase of pensions in the last eight years. - Together with last year’s increases and new harmonization, which will be officially adopted by the Government on Thursday, pensions in the Republic of Srpska have been increased by about 10 percent since the beginning of 2021 - the Prime Minister pointed out.
According to him, based on the legal obligation and the prescribed calculation, which is based on the growth of salaries and the inflation rate, pensions should have been increased by 3.36 percent, but the Government, respecting the position of this population, decided to compensate the difference in order for pensions to be increased by four percent. At the annual level, more than 50 million KM will be allocated for a new increase of pensions. On behalf of the pensioners, the President of the Association of Pensioners, Ratko Trifunović, thanked for the new increase in pensions, and emphasized that this year, thanks to the Government of the Republic of Srpska, the budget allocation for treatment and spa rehabilitation of this population had doubled. - We are grateful to the Government for managing to preserve the stability of the pension system, to ensure regular payment of pensions and continuous increase, despite the epidemic of coronavirus and the difficulties faced by the entire system. We are especially pleased that the latest increase represents the largest harmonization of pensions in the last ten years - said Trifunović. According to the data of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund from 2013 until today, pensions in the Republic of Srpska have increased by 41 percent, which is, in percentage terms, more than the growth of salaries in the observed period.
