The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik and the Serb member and BiH Presidency Chairwoman Željka Cvijanović have met today in Banja Luka with members of the Holy Synod of Bishops led by His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije.

The meeting was organized during a formal lunch in the Bishop’s Palace of the Eparchy of Banja Luka, and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Nenad Stevandić was also present at the meeting.

The President Dodik said that Srpska with dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church has built and restored many churches and monasteries.

„We are moving forward because religion is one of the strong elements of our identity, which we are proud of”, said the President of the Republic.

The President of the Republic of Srpska pointed out that the Serbian Orthodox Church has shown that it integrates the Serb people. It turned out that our Church was existentially decisive during the period of occupation, including centuries-old occupations”, it was added by the President Dodik.

The President of Srpska assessed that today’s role of the Serbian Orthodox Church is no less considering the overall events in the world.

“Western neoliberalism is aimed at undermining the foundations of the Orthodox character and our society, and all attacks on the values of the Serb people are also attacks on the Serbian Orthodox Church, which we have discussed today with the Patriarch and members of the Synod”, said the President Dodik.

The President of the Republic of Srpska stated that all attacks on the values of the Serb people are also attacks on the Serbian Orthodox Church, stressing that religion is one of the strong elements of the Serb identity.
