The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Višković, has attended today in Nevesinje the commemoration of the Day of the Municipality and the Patron Saint Day of the Veterans’ Organization of the Republic of Srpska, as well as 30 years since the first battle and 28 years since the second Mitrovdan battle, which were a symbol of the defense of Herzegovina and the entire Republic of Srpska.

The Prime Minister Višković stated that Serb fighters in the Mitrovdan battles in 1992 and 1994 had defended not only Nevesinje and Herzegovina, but the entire Republic of Srpska and that this should never be forgotten.

“That is our vow - not to forget, just as their sacred obligation was to defend the Republic of Srpska”, stressed the Prime Minister Višković.

The Prime Minister Višković, after the liturgy and the ceremony of breaking the patron saint cake on the occasion of Mitrovdan - the Patron Saint Day of the municipality and the Republic of Srpska Veterans’ Organization, pointed out that due to Saint Demetrius and the heroism of the Serb fighters, victory had been won for Nevesinje, Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska.

The Prime Minister reminded that there had been ten times less Serb fighters then compared to the enemy forces that had wanted to exterminate the Serb people in this area, as had been done in the Neretva valley.

“The enemy did not succeed thanks to the courage of our people who saved not only Nevesinje and Herzegovina, but also the Republic of Srpska. If they had given in then, we certainly would not have our country today, and our country is the Republic of Srpska, which protected us. If we did not have the Republic of Srpska, the Serb people in these areas would certainly have a different fate”, emphasized the Prime Minister Višković.

On behalf of the institutions of the Republic of Srpska, the Prime Minister Višković thanked everyone who contributed to the creation of Srpska.

“Today we should vow that we will never forget it. In peace, we should be worthy heirs and guardians of what our heroes did for us and for Serbia then. Long live the Republic of Srpska and let us be worthy heirs of that heroic deed”, the Prime Minister Višković said.

Today, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Višković, together with the Ministry of Labor, War Veterans and Disabled Persons’ Protection, Duško Milunović, and the envoy of the Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Boško Tomić, laid a wreath at the Central Monument to the Fallen Soldiers of Nevesinje in the Defensive-Patriotic War.

On the occasion of the commemoration of the historical event of the republic importance “The Battle of Mitrovdan in 1992 and 1994 on the Nevesinje battlefield”, the Prime Minister, Radovan Višković, attended the ceremonial academy in the “Nebojša Glogovac” House of Culture.
