The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović has attended today the commemoration of the suffering of Serbs in Sijekovac in 1992.

The President of the Republic of Srpska said that three decades had passed since the horrific crime in the previously peaceful village.

The President of Srpska added that the Sijekovac massacre was the first mass war crime in BiH during the past war, and an unquestionable act of aggression in which regular forces of another state had participated.

“It is a crime against peace, a crime against neighbours, locals and innocent civilians to whom the Serb name and surname were the only fault, thus also a verdict”, said the President Cvijanović, noting that nine civilians were killed in that crime during the first hour alone.

The President of the Republic of Srpska highlighted that the tragedy of not only Sijekovac and the past war, but also of all the wars since the beginning of the world, had been collected in the pain of the mother Milja Zečević.
